ABOUT THE JOB:
Prodims has immediate openings for local qualified Senior Cost Estimators with transportation (transit, airport, and tunnel) estimating experience.
Candidates must have strong computer skills, and be familiar with estimating and scheduling software programs including (HCSS) and MS Project. Candidate will establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards. Initiate and maintain liaison with client and contractors, to facilitate construction activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate will direct Prodims estimating activities and supervise the preparation and review of estimates from client including based construction cost estimates and make presentations to management as required
- Candidate will provide technical and operational direction to assigned personnel as required
- Identify scope of work and perform takeoff from RFQ information for heavy civil projects
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, indentifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
- Work with owner/client, coordinate with field operations, create and manage schedules, and attend project meetings
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Identify project resources required for the project based on the scope of work
- Manage the project to the approved project budget and scope. Manage project change orders
- Review available plans and specifications to make sure estimate effort is in compliance
- Perform conceptual estimates when detailed design information is not yet available
- Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors
- Coordinate with team to develop overall estimate for larger projects
- Interface with project design team to ensure estimated construction methods and diagrams to perform the work are safe, workable and efficient
- Ensure all estimates are complete and in compliance
- Develop project schedules to meet owner requirements and provide updates if requested
- Ensure estimates address all potential safety risks and concerns
- Maintain base bid documents and organize estimate information
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- 10-20 years experience of construction cost estimating (transportation - rail, airport, tunnel projects)
- Development of estimates in all CSI divisions
- All levels of detail from conceptual to full plans/specifications estimates
- Representation of estimates at team meetings. Value Engineering team experience a plus
- Proven experience estimating large public infrastructure projects is required
- Previous transportation (rail) experience is preferred
- HCSS, MC2, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Primavera computer software skills are required
- Able to read, understand and interpret drawings, contract specifications and other technical documents used in mechanical, construction and general contracting
- Well developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities including project managers, customers, clients, subcontractors, and staff
- Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills

- Five (5) to seven (7) years experience fully managing site construction projects to include all aspects such as: scheduling, budget management, change orders/billing, and exceptional problem resolution.
- Excellent business, analytical leadership and communication skills.
- Exceptional scheduling (CPM), document control (P6), and cost estimating.
- Demonstrate ability to clearly articulate and communicate both written and verbally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

Study requests for proposals (RFPs), plans, specifications and other related documents. Attend pre-bid meetings, prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment and time utilization requirements.

The Proposal Coordinator will work with our Estimating, Business Development and Operations staff to compile, edit, write and complete proposal documents for both bid/build and design/build construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Working under the direction of a senior manager or senior estimator, coordinate the efforts of others, both internally and externally, to track, compile, and complete deliverables for proposals per deadlines while ensuring that the requirements of the proposal documents are met completely
- Assembling proposal documents in various software formats, both text and graphics, and working with others to assemble proposals, marketing and PR documents
- Write and edit project summaries, resumes of project personnel and other supporting information
- Interpret bid and proposal documents, and ensure that the material being generated is in compliance with the requirements of the potential client
- Ability to compile technical writing based on examples or summaries provided by others
- Proofread, edit and standardize proposal text and graphics for correct grammar, spelling, flow, comprehension and style.
- Work with internal database to maintain proposal/project tracking and history
- Assist in preparation/closeout of hard-bid proposals and other estimating/proposal-related tasks
- Perform other related duties including involvement in special projects, preparation of marketing materials, newsletters, attending various meetings and functions
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in related field of study - Marketing, Communications, Const. Management, etc
- 3 years experience creating, writing, and editing proposals in a construction or design firm environment
- Ability to analyze solicitation documents and requirements and use them to develop proposal outlines and schedules
Necessary Attributes:
- Must be highly detail-oriented
- High level of organization
- Ability to work as part of team with shifting priorities and schedules
- Ability to meet deadlines working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, inDesign and other applicable software programs

This position will report to our corporate office in Pittsburgh, PA. Russell Standard, which has been in business for over 80 years, deals with new construction, maintenance services and manufacturing for the heavy highway and bridge construction industry.
Summary of Position
The Bridge and Highway Construction Estimator will be expected to provide estimating leadership, expertise, direction, and validation to deliver the most cost-efficient and profitable project bids possible. The winning candidate will deal with owners, A/E's, and contractors to resolve technical matters during negotiations and contract execution. This Estimator will be the lead team member on large, complex projects and will also have the responsibility for review of final estimate packages on medium and some small estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness.

The winning candidate should have a BS engineering degree in a construction related area or BS in construction management with an emphasis on estimating or equivalent combination of education and experience.
